Christopher Toscano

Experienced ballroom dancer, teacher, choreographer, and performer

Christopher Toscano has had a passion for the arts, music, education, and dance all his life. It started with waltzing in the living room to the music of "The Lawrence Welk Show" with his mother as a small child. Then to training and competing in dance in university, and now as an instructor and social dancer; dance has continuously been a central thread of his life.

Christopher first started training formally in dance over 20 years ago at the age of 12 through a Youth Cotillion program taught by Ryan Starr. Within a year of that he chose to take ballroom lessons from Sheryl Bentz-Sipe as his PE elective credits during his associate studies at North Idaho College. At age 18 he transferred to Idaho State University where he majored in dance and minored in theatre. During his time at ISU he traveled multiple times per week to Logan, Utah to train and compete on the Utah State Ballroom Dance Team in Open Gold Syllabus and Formation Dance under professional coaches and former BYU Formation Team members Adam and Jeanne-Louise Shelton. During this time he also trained in multiple disciplines under many nationally renowned instructors and coaches, and even placed top 3 in collegiate open gold competions.

Christopher has choreographed and performed dance works on multiple stages, both during and after university. He has designed costumes for period and modern theatre and dance works, as well as working in the fashion design space. He has been a voracious reader ever his mother taught him to read and age three and that kickstarted his lifelong love of education. Over the years he has collected a personal library of nigh a thousand books and his love of reading and for the Lord has led him to become a commissioned Colson Fellow.

Christopher teaches beginner level ballet and jazz dance; Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, and Tango in Social, American Smooth, and International Latin styles; Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, and Jive in Social and International Latin styles; as well as East Coast Swing, Nightclub Two-Step and varied other social dance styles.

Alongside teaching dance Christopher also owns and operates Eagle's Wings Bookkeeping and takes the occasional commision for a bespoke or coutoure garment through his fashion line.
